Many a British pub comes with its own ghostly tales to regale customers on cold and dark winters nights and The Griffin Inn Ghosts, Nuneaton are no exception. This historic building was first given its license in 1654 when it became a popular drinking hole for the miners working close-by.
Ghosts
Staff and guests have reported many a strange occurrence here over the years. From strange bumps in the night to full-bodied manifestations. Beer taps have been turned on and off by an unseen hand, the gas bottles in the cellar have been turned off repeatedly, glasses are found scattered around the bar some mornings and a strange whispering has been reported by many staff over the years.
In the 1970s the landlord was a woken by his dog furiously barking at what appeared to be the shadowy figure of a woman sitting at the end of his bed. In 1995 the cleaner swore that she’d seen a woman with a red veil covering her face wander through the bar early in the morning before vanishing into thin air and in 2013 a ghostly man was spotted sitting by the bar before disappearing. The CCTV footage mysteriously going fuzzy just at the time of his arrival.

The spectral apparition of a man drinking beer also appears randomly sitting at a table for a few moments before vanishing. Cold spots, light anomalies and disembodied footsteps are also reported here and the fruit machines have also been known to randomly pay out a jackpot even when no-one is playing. Whatever the reason for the haunting at The Griffin Inn, Nuneaton there appears to be numerous spirits of the past still locked inside of the pleasant pub but the reason for their stay remains a mystery.
